What is SmartStream?

SmartStream is the smart way to stream your songs to your visitors direct from your band website.

Don't just tell them how good your material is, let them hear it for themselves!

How does it work?

The MP3 Streamer uses Macromedia Shockwave technology to stream soundclips. The required plugin is a standard component of most browsers so your visitors should have no problem with playback - but if your visitors don't have it for any reason it can easily be downloaded and installed in a matter of seconds.

The browser will usually prompt the user automatically - but you can provide a download button on your webpage like the one above if you wish for added convenience.

Why use streaming technology ?

Streaming is a much more effective way of presenting your material to your audience.

Streaming technology allows the clip to begin playback, whilst the rest of the song continues to download in the background. This eliminates the frustration of waiting for the entire clip to finish downloading before playback can begin.
Don't lose your visitors through their impatience!

Also they will be unable to save your songs direct to their hard drive. If they want a copy they will have to buy a CD from you! But if you wanted to offer your fans a free (or paid-for) download facility, we can set it up for you free of charge. Just ask!

So what do I get ?

We will provide you with this MP3 Streamer loaded with your own songs when you sign up for any of our hosting account packages

You can send us your ready-made MP3's using our convenient File Upload facility located in the BackStage Pass area - or if you prefer just send us a demo CD and we will do all the file conversions for you, free of charge.

Once your MP3 Streamer is set up, we provide you with a link which will automatically launch your own personal player. You can place this link anywhere within your website - and it can be a text link (perhaps the song name) or an image link (like a play button, or CD cover graphic).

We will help you with any aspect of setting up your player.

Smart, how do I get it?

MP3 SmartStream is included with your totalband hosting package and the amount of songs you may include depends on your choice of package.

Even if you don't take advantage of the unique benefits of our own packages - you can still get our player as a 'bolt-on' to your existing host for a small monthly fee.
